ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS:

The Chinese people has been a most successful and bright forward looking group of people down the ages. They must possess a vibrant philosophy of success and happiness!

The Confucian philosophy has been the foundation of both the life of the Chinese people and the administration of the Chinese empire for thousands of years since Confucius (551-479 B.C.). Officers serving in the empire had to sit for the Imperial examinations which were based on the Confucian classics. Thus, the Confucian philosophy has pertinent enduring management principles which our modern society could benefit from.

During the current Asian economic crisis, it is also found that China and Taiwan were relatively unaffected. There is something there in the Chinese approach to management which would useful.

GOALS:

The teachings of Confucianism are aimed at these goals:

• Promotion of the well being of society through uplifting of the morality and education of the people.
• Inculcation of the management principles of administration of people, thereby leading to efficient government.
• Empowering people through the principle of "Constant Motivation".
• Inculcation of the principle of benevolence, so that all, both poor and rich, strong and weak, would have a fulfilling place under the sky.
• Creation of a society of bright optimism and excellence, based on the Chinese saying, "Bright Sky, White Sun and Red covers the whole Earth" [Chin Tien, Pai Jih, Mung Ti-Hung].
