PROFILES ON PANEL MEMBERS:

All members have practising interest and respect for the age-old time-proven traditions of the East. It is felt that the world of modern management can greatly benefit from the wisdom of the East, which have several profound ancient texts on strategic management and leadership.

OSRC is the forum where the ideas of the Eastern traditions could be presented to complement and supplement modern management, both in an indepth research and frontline practical application forms.

Dr Yap is the Executive Director of group of companies in logging, transport, estate, etc. (YK Transport Sdn. Bhd. , Xin Yuen Trading) from 1978 to present . He is also the Principal Consultant, Yap Management & Consultancy giving training in Strategic Management Leadership and Motivation. Have delivered more than 50 seminars on business management and Sun Tzu Art of War and Confucian management.

Dr. Abdullah Taib was a lecturer and Associate Professor of Sociology in the National University Malaysia before becoming a co-founder of the firm SD MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS SDN BHD, established in 1984 as a management consultancy firm on regional development planning and environmental assessment. His roles include being the sociologist, population surveyor in several of the regional development planning and environmental assessment studies.

He is a specialist on Malay culture and management leadership principles, having undertaken several years of intensive research into Malay culture. He is a valuable speaker on Malay culture and management leadership in public and in-house seminars.

Active part in the St. John's Ambulance activities with a rank of Sergeant and Public Duty Officer. Participated in organising various Youth Movement activities including business discussion group and was a committee member of a Youth Movement at district and state levels. Participated in the various international activities such as the Taiwan-Malaysia Youth Exchange and the GBBM funds raising activities organised in Seremban.

He was a chemistry lecturer in the Chemistry Department at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor (1974 - 1981) and the Chemical Process and Biotechnology Department at the Singapore Polytechnic (May 1981 - Jul 1998). Through 1986-1998 he worked on consultancy projects such as setting-up gold-plating line to conform to Ministry of Environmental Standards for Polyplate Industrial Co (Pte) Ltd and a coordinator for the Short Courses of (i) Electroplating and (ii) PCB Manufacture for the Electronics Industry which provided a planned training programme for personnel in the metal finishing industry.

Founder director since 1984 of a consultancy firm, SD MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS SDN. BHD., on regional development planning and environmental assessment. His roles include being the project manager, study director or co-ordinator in over 40 regional development planning and environmental assessment studies. He has written more than 50 research papers and over 200 papers.

Established GUI MANAGEMENT CENTRE in 1991, mainly to dessiminate Oriental strategic management leadership philosophies and success principles. He is a specialist on Chinese culture and Chinese management leadership principles. His interests include the Chinese martial arts and Chinese brush painting. He has served as the external examiner for Ph.D. theses on Chinese management:

He is a valuable speaker on Chinese culture and management leadership in over 50 public, TV and in-house seminars. He was the chief organiser of the first regional conference on Sun Tzu's Strategic Management Leadership Conference 1996 held in the Pacific Ballroom, Pan Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, July 10-11 1996. He is the well known column writer of the national newspaper STAR's weekly series on SUN TZU'S MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP (January 1994 to present), which focus on the applications of principles of Asian management philosophies. He is a prolific writer of several best-selling books (those on strategic management in asteriks), which include:
